I’ve recently uploaded to WordPress repository my real first theme !
Real, because I’ve developed in the past a theme and realized after submitting it to WP repository that it was not a Clean and well coded theme. I’ve asked back then the review theme to remove it from the queue to spare them the time and most of all the headache that an ugly and bad coded theme can causes πŸ˜‚

This new one is really clean, well coded and documented, and waiting quietly in the queue to be reviewed before getting live on the repository and available for the community.
A theme can wait sometimes 5 months (sometimes more) before getting reviewed, and I don’t want to wait that long to make it available for others.

A live demo can be seen on the theme URI
A little documentation can be found here
If you wish to try it before it gets on WordPress.org, head up to the GitHub repository andΒ  download it.
The Clean Blog WordPress Theme is now live in the WordPress theme’s repository !
If you liked it, please leave a comment here and/or star it on GitHub πŸ˜‰

  1. Hi!

Thanx for the very well done theme. Love it! But I do wonder if it’s possible to change the picture on the first page. I do love horses but it has nothing to do with my company:)
    Best wishes

    1. Hello

Really glad that you liked The Clean Blog theme.
In the Customizer’s options, you can change the default header background image. Also, you can define for each post/page the desired image, just set a featured image and the theme will take care of it for you πŸ˜‰

      Thanks again for your feedback.

      1. Hello LebCit,
My name is kapil. I appreciate your work, especially the look and feel of your theme. Had explored the ‘dynamic customization’.
I need some changes, as listed below…
        1. ‘No featured image’ on single-post page. ( with a on/off )
        2. Sidebar Text Color.
        3. Search Box Icon length. ( best if -> text:icon = 4:1 )
        4. Category hierarchic view. (Widgets: have tried but not working for me)
        5. Post/Page Title On the Feature Image ( with on/off )
        6. The ‘Site Title’ on the Header with menu. (best if left-side, like TITLE/MENU)
        (waiting for new update)
and please don’t say to change the theme. lol

I mean ‘if it is possible’ then This would be the best-ever theme for me. Thanks a lot.
please reply me by email when you respond to this comment (looks like a demand πŸ˜€ ).

        1. Hello Kapil πŸ™‚

Really glad to hear that you like The Clean Blog theme.
I’m replying here so everyone can benefit from my response, this is one of WordPress wisdom πŸ˜‰

I encourage you to use a child theme and make your modifications inside the child theme.
You can easily do 1. and 5. inside a child theme if you know a little bit of code or make some search.

As for 4., I don’t really understand, could you explain what you’re trying to do/have ?

Some of your request are not possible for the theme, globally speaking, because they will break the design, like 6.

          I will do 1., 2., 3., and 5. in the next update πŸ™‚

  2. Is this theme and the plugin required for it multisite compatible? I couldn’t find anything on the plugin documentation either and getting in contact with the developer of the plugin didn’t seem that easy of a task. I truly love the look and feel of your theme and look forward to what you develop in the future.

    1. Hello,

Thanks a lot for your kind words, I really appreciate your feedback πŸ™‚
For WordPress Multisite (network), the Super Admin (you) choose what to activate on each of the sites of the network.
So you can choose to enable the theme and the plugin on the whole network or on a single site of the network, it’s completely up to you.
So yes, The Clean Blog and Kirki are compatible with a network installation.

      Thanks again for your feedback.

      1. man thank you but there is a problem!!!!111
its not resposive on my mobile. sucks! can you fix it?
try with my galaxy s7 and the menu sucks. it jumps and
        you need to do something
let me know soon cause my site is with your template

        1. Hello Yani,

First of all you are most welcome.
Secondly, you should describe your problem, at least with a picture, because just saying jumps doesn’t describe exactly how the menu is working on your site…
Third, I can delete your comment but I didn’t just to tell you that saying to a developer, that has spend hours on a theme and that the top and finest developers on WordPress tested the theme before making it available on the WordPress repository, that it sucks is not the best way at all to get some help…
Finally, disable all your plugin and test the theme without them to see how it will work, and if after that you are not satisfied, you can simply change the theme…

  3. Hello LebCit,

First and foremost, I wanna thank you for this incredible design. After years as a news site, it was time (due to lack of free time) to transition it into a blog-like site. While looking for elegant, modern (and bit minimalistic) solution, I stumbled up this theme. And so far, I’m more than happy with what I’ve got.

But, and there is always but. I have 2 problems that are bothering me. First one is in ‘naming’. I would like to see my name shown under the post, not my nickname I’m using to login to WP site.

Second one… well… I’ll allow picture to explain it

I would like to have only one of those share options at the end. Also, I’ve tried to put post inside post (to use parallax pictures inside text), and on the end of that segment, I’ve also had multiple instances of that share option. Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks in advance (hope you plan to keep working on this one, cos it’s truly amazing)

    1. Hello Vedran,

Thanks a lot for your kind words.
You can change the name you want to use in your profile πŸ˜‰
If it doesn’t work (it should !), I’ll give you another solution.
The share option should appear only once under any post !
Maybe you have a plugin that is creating this conflict ?!
Sorry, this theme does not support for now your last requirement, I’ll be looking into it (parallax pictures inside text).
I plan to work much more on this theme and add a lot of cool options to it, but not before at least a month from now (very busy right now πŸ™‚ )

      Thanks again for your feedback.
      SYA πŸ™‚

      1. I’ve tried all options to change shown name, but no use – theme always shows nickname.

Still not sure why share options show multiple times, will ask a friend and get back to you with feedback.

Best of luck with all that you have going atm.

        1. Hello Vedran,

Really sorry to reply after a while, and thanks a lot for your wishes πŸ™‚
You can change the displayed name by following those steps :
1- Create a child theme of The Clean Blog, you can use a great plugin for that, Child Theme Configurator https://wordpress.org/plugins/child-theme-configurator/
2- Make sure to add the file template-tags.php to your child theme
3- In this file, the first function is thecleanblog_posted_on().
4- In this function, on lines 22 and 27, you’ll find ‘nickname’
          5- Change ‘nickname’ to ‘nicename’
          6- Please, don’t forget the ‘ ‘ around nicename πŸ˜‰
          7- That’s all πŸ™‚
Hope this solves your first issue πŸ™‚

          Thanks again for your feedback.

  4. Hey, Thank you for a really simple Theme. I was finding just the theme for my new blog.

Although, I wanted to add DMCA Policy, Privacy Policy, Terms of use on my blog, but Cannot edit footer.

no blog post is really explaining how to do it.

can you tell me how can I edit “FOOTER” area?

and perhaps, you can add some feature in customization in next update, that will allow newbies to customize footer content and links.

Anyway, Thank you so much for such good theme.

  5. Hello Kaivalya

Very glad to know that you like the theme πŸ™‚
I’m actually working on an update of the theme and will add to the Customizer a footer section.
This update will take some time, till the end of august, because I’m very busy right now πŸ™‚
Meanwhile, if you want to edit the footer, I recommend you to create a child theme of the theme before editing anything, because if you don’t all you work will be overwritten in the next update of the theme !
1- Create a child theme of The Clean Blog, you can use a great plugin for that, Child Theme Configurator https://wordpress.org/plugins/child-theme-configurator/
2- In the functions.php of the child theme, copy & paste the function thecleanblog_copyright_date() that you will find in the-clean-blog-functions.php file under the inc folder (from line 519 to line 540)
3- In this function, find the following Copyright &copy (line 533) and change it according to your needs. You can just add what you need after Copyright and before &copy
    Hope this will help πŸ™‚

Thanks again for your feedback, SYA πŸ™‚

  6. Hi LebCit,

I absolutly love your theme, it is simple and sleek design makes it look impressive. I came across a little problem with setting a feature image to my post. I first changed the header image of the frontpage and then I set a feature image to my post. Once I publish my post the header image of the frontpage changes into the feature image of the post, but if I check through the customize theme option my chosen header image is still selected eventhough I can only see the feature image of my post. Do you have any idea how I can fix this?
    My blog: http://www.betaforalpha.com/

    1. Hello Larissa-T,

I’m very glad to read your kind words and also very happy that you like The Clean Blog theme.
This is how the theme works. If you want a particular image for your post/page, set a featured image for this post/page.
BUT, if you want the Default Header Background Image to be displayed for a post/page, just leave the featured image empty πŸ˜‰
That’s it, hope this will solve your issue πŸ™‚

  7. I really like the simple design of the Clean Blog WP theme, but I was wondering is there a way to use an video mp4 for a looped animation instead of the still image on the home page?

    1. Hello Dominic,
Really glad that you like the theme.
I’m actually finishing an update that will be available this week (Wednesday or Thursday).
The front page will have a slider, you will be able to put your mp4 there.
BUT, the slider is for the next update, not this one, sorry.
I have to make a lot of tests to see the best scenario for the theme’s header.
Since I have a little bit of time, the next update will be around the end of next month (October).
Hope that you’ll soon find all your needs in The Clean Blog theme.
Please, don’t hesitate if you have any request.

      SYA, LebCit πŸ™‚

  8. Thanks for the nice theme! I love it!

The only thing I would like to know is that when I include a featured picture inside a post, I don’t want it to be on the homepage automatically, but only on the post. How can I do that?
    Thanks a lot!

    1. Hello Jonathan,

Really glad that you like The Clean Blog.
      Sorry for this late reply.
The homepage does only show a featured image that you can define in the Customizer and your latest posts.
So if you apply a featured image to a post/page, it should not be displayed on the homepage…
If this is your issue, please give me link to see it because I wasn’t able to replicate your issue.
Thanks a lot for your feedback.
Please don’t hesitate if you have any question/request.

      SYA, LebCit πŸ™‚

  9. Thank you for a really nice theme!

I have a small bug that occurs when I create a child theme. The bootstrap css does not get loaded as it’s trying to get it from my child theme’s folder.

I can fix the issue if I edit the functions.php file function thecleanblog_scripts and change this line:

    wp_enqueue_style(‘bootstrap’, get_theme_file_uri() . ‘/css/bootstrap.min.css’);

to match the other lines in that function:
    wp_enqueue_style(‘bootstrap’, get_theme_file_uri(‘/css/bootstrap.min.css’));

Can this be included as a bug fix?
